Hailing from the Valle del Arenal, Loco owns and farms over 200 acres of agave fields surrounding the town of El Arenal.

Loco Tequilas are single-estate selections. The brand owns and farms 240 acres of agave fields within a three-mile radius of the historic Hacienda La Providencia distillery.

Loco’s latest release, Loco Ámbar Reposado, proves why this brand has become a favorite among tequila enthusiasts.

Go all natural this year with these unadulterated agave gems. Of their three expressions, we preferred Loco Puro Corazón, the rarest of their bottles focusing strictly on the “pure heart” of the distillate.

Gone are the days when tequila was thought of as just a cheap shot to get a quick buzz. This blanco is at the opposite end of that spectrum. In fact, it is one of the most meticulously crafted ultra-premium tequilas you can buy.

We’re huge fans of the outstanding blanco Loco Puro Corazón, so it was not surprising that the brand has turned its unaged tequila into a stellar reposado.

Its latest iteration, Loco Tequila Puro Corazón, is the brand’s self-proclaimed “crown jewel,” a delicate liquid made with the very best of the house tequila: just the heart — hence the name puro corazón.

This blockbuster list of limited-edition spirits, prestige cuvée Champagnes, and distinctive red wines will make you thirsty—and maybe a bit curious. I attended scores of spirits launches, Champagne soirées, and serious wine tastings to bring you the back stories of these remarkable bottles.

Most Innovative New Tequilas: Loco Puro Corazón

Though relatively new, Loco Tequila is focused on authenticity and the provenance of the agave used to make its premium tequilas. Loco distills its tequila at the esteemed Cascahuín distillery and sources agave from its own fields outside of the town of El Arenal.

“Loco Tequila goes in the other direction. They use a technique called the double jima, whereby a second shave is done at the distillery to remove every bit of extraneous matter from the white flesh of the piña before cooking. Their goal is a refined, rich distillation”
