Limited Edition Collection

Jacobo and María Ángeles
Loco Tequila Collaboration, 2025
Loco Tequila and Taller Jacobo & María Ángeles have formed an exceptional collaboration to transform Loco Puro Corazón into a limited edition art collection. Master painters employ Zapoteca symbols to create patterns that impart meaning and intention while pushing the boundaries of aesthetic innovation.
Four designs depict creatures that live among the agaves: Coyote, Hummingbird, Serpent and Bat. Single design sets include two pieces of art featuring the same animal: an alebrije (an emblematic symbol carved into copal wood) and a hand painted bottle.
$5,600

María and Jacobo Ángeles are internationally recognized for their art which is founded on the research and interpretation of Zapotec symbols, iconography and cosmovision. Their work is included in collections worldwide including the Smithsonian Collection, the United Nations and the Museum of Popular Art of Mexico City, and has been exhibited at the Vatican. Former brand collaborations include Mercedes Benz, Rolls Royce, Adidas, Birkenstock and New York Fashion Week.

COYOTE: Pode de Comunicación
A guardian of balance in the agave fields, coyotes contribute to the sustainability of our ecosystem by controlling populations of rodents. HUMMINGBIRD: HOPE AND TRANSPARENCY
COLIBRÍ: ESPERANZA Y TRANSPARENCIA
Hummingbirds feed on the nectar of agave flowers, pollinating as they move from bloom to bloom, a process that is essential to species diversity and enduring survival of the agave landscape. In Mesoamerican regions, hummingbirds were admired for their power and swiftness, qualities valued in warriors. Some considered them to be messengers of intentions between the earthly and spiritual realms.

SNAKE: MAXIMUM POWER
SERPIENTE: MÁXIMO PODER
The snake, particularly in the Zapotec calendar, is associated with profound wisdom, spiritual understanding, and a quest for deeper knowledge. It represents cyclical renewal and transformation, with the shedding of the skin seen as a metaphor for the constant renewal of life. In the agave fields, it preys on small animals that might otherwise damage the plants.

BAT: Transformation and Protection
MURCIÉLAGO: Transformación y protección
Revered pollinators of the night, bats feed on the nectar of agave flowers, carrying pollen across great distances thus supporting a critical need for genetic diversity in the species. The Zapotecs related bats to the sacred world of the dead and spirit ancestors that roamed the underworld. Though one myth reflects current wisdom that bats support crops, by depicting it shaping valleys and level land for planting corn.

Bioconservation & Reforestation
Jacobo and Maria Angeles began their reforestation project on the lands of San Martín Tilcajete in 2004. Since then they have planted approximately 40,000 copal trees using native seeds. In 2017 they founded Palo Que Habla to organize and fundraise for these efforts.
